Just moved (back) to Oklahoma for work. I bought my first house, which I am quite happy with, and will soon stuff it with my cars once I can transport them from temporary storage at my mom's. It has a 3 car tandem garage, which I was hesitant about at first, but after moving around in the space it seems ideal for project cars, since it has more room to work than a traditional 3-car without disturbing the neighbors and the HOA.
Now that I'm no longer a broke engineering student, once I get the cars up here and back to fighting weight, I'll be making regular visits to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit (hallettracing.net) and Thunder Valley Raceway (okthunder.com)
It's good to be back in Oklahoma City, it's like a home away from home after 4 years of college in the area. Any Jalops in the area or car meets I should know about?

Thank you! I've basically lived out of my truck for the last 4 years working on oil rigs, so it's really nice to be in an office and have a place to go every night.

I drove through Oklahoma once, in fact I left a rusted husk of a Dodge K Wagon there when it died on my way home......and you know what I remember about it most? 5 tornadoes in the 24 hours I spent there... Good God!

I grew up tornado watching in North Texas with my Dad, I'm used to the threat of windular vorticular death.

I grew up in northern Alabama, we had them there too, but it doesn't mean I like them or miss them now. I don't miss them even a little bit.

Tornado Alley is a way of life man!
It's like seeing if you're going to win the "my house survived!" jackpot a few times a year.

I'm jealous for two reasons:
1: You have A garage. I don't
2: You probably paid nothing for that place, compared to what house prices are here in the Northeast! If it wasn't for the fact that my house will be paid off in 10 years, I would so pack up and move somewhere more rural where housing prices are cheaper and just work remotely.
That said, congratulations and welcome to the homedepot, er, home owner's club!

Oklahoma is dirt cheap, it's one of the cheapest places to live in the US, so the amount of house you can get for your money is really impressive.
I have a long association with both Lowe's and Home Depot, I'm already known on a first name basis at the local HD.
First malfunction last night - furnace won't come on. Guess I'll call the warranty number.

Probably just your pilot light went out. Usually that's what it is.

Congrats on the job and the new house. I'm in Tulsa - maybe I'll see you out at Hallett in the spring!
I get together with Tulsa Caffeine and Gasoline occasionally ( http://caffeineandgasolineu.ipage.com/ ). Make sure to make time for a weekend on the back roads of northwest Arkansas, and get down to Motorsport Ranch - Cresson sometime ( https://www.thedriversedge.net/ ).

It's electric light, I was all up in it with my voltmeter and it looked fine, so I broke down and called the service guy. It's under warranty, so the board should be covered if that's what crapped out. It's all of 10 months old.

Nice, I hope to see you there.
I will have to check out Arkansas. I was there once on a family trip eons ago, but that was before I was driving age. I'm from Fort Worth originally, so I'm familiar with Motorsports Ranch (though I never raced there, as I never had time.) One of these days I will.
